Model Call

Yesterday evening we had a model call for fitting and it was perfect chaos, full of excitement that make me feel nervous about the show, there's only 6 day left for the show and everything must be perfect. Now it's only time for sewing, sewing till the end.

Fashion Show ... One Week Away

I'd just realize the fashion Show at the Wyndham Hotel is one week away, and I still have work to do, the garments are coming along and founding models is coming along too, but I have not had time for myself and I'm keep pushing phone calls to make to the last of my worries and now it's hateful since I'm like crazy making all this calls I'd should have done last week, I'm so what behind on my homework, but I basically don't care since I'd just know the Fashion Show will be a success.

Are You Color Blind

There's this ColorIQ test online that help you understand how well you distinguish color by arranging blocks of color in proper order as you believe them to be.

A month ago I took the test and got a 3 which according to them and my age range I should score 0, which is the highest score, today I was checking on Fashion-Incubator and Kathleen Fasanella has posted an article related to the same ColorIQ test.

It was great to see that there is people in the industry looking through the web into some of the same things I am looking too, which made me feel like I'm not that lost on what I am doing right now a a young designer.

I took the test again and still score a 3, which means I need to work on my colors recognition.

Color Boards

On my Collection Design class we have this project, where we pretend to have a manufacture and that we are in chrge of the design team for the next season collection to be produce and we need to convince Production and Sales team that our decision whereas design are the right one for the company.

The first part of the project is to decide who is our cutomer, where does she or he buys, how often, and within what retail price range they buy. We also need to decide what king of garments does we produce, career dress, evening gowns, sport wear, and so mamy so many. So its cool, is like chossing what kind of company will who like to have in a future or in which kind of company will one like to work for as a member of the design team.

Then we need to decide about what kind of mood our collection, and start looking for inspirations, and start making assuption about next season color way since we can access nor have the money yet to buy color reports in advance for next season. I'd start looking around the web cheking cool places were Icould create my own palletes so I could include them in the Color Boards.

I Found this place DeGraeve that creates a color palette from any picture you found online that you migth want to use and breaks the picture into the main five colors of the picture and presented to you as dull and vibrant colors.

There's also this place Color Hunter where you can create your own palettes and posted online, though on this you need to have an account which is totally free, but also you could search paletes related to a theme you might be interest on.

Kermeezar

Last weekend my friend Josh was at the International Museum of Art at the kermeezar showing the product of his new passion beading and accessories.

I went on Saturday evening after work to check on his work, to the Downtown museum of art, though when i got there I realize it was the International Museum of Art on Montana and Brown, so took a cab so I could make it in time. Museum was full with artist' works which remind me a little market in Mexico.
His Collection of long asymmetrical neck pieces, hand mad bags, and outstanding feather broaches made me jealous and happy of seeing all his work.
The subtle asymmetrical necklaces that made me want to buy at last a dozen of them. There were absolute amazing, there was a green beading necklace with a crochet flower which as he told me, he had found at his grandma' attic this summer. which unfortunately for me, he sold to someone else. Though I bought a Black piece of art that hang beautiful on my neck, and match my green gemstone on black feather broach I got from him also.

He also had this hand made purses which where totally lovely. there was this green bag which was hand painted flowers and rain stoned his initial JM an the top left that merged with the flower design, and my favorite was a gray one with black buildings and gemstones, which is to die for. I didn't buy it that day, the good news is that Josh did not sell it the next day and I'm going to get it from him this week.

Three weeks before The fashion show

We are only three weeks the fashion show at the Wyndham hotel and I'm still far behind sewing garments, modifying patterns and dealing with test and projects that drive me crazy, though I wouldn't like it other way. It is my last semester at El Paso Community College, the best place to learn about this crazy industry I'm in love with, with excellent teachers, who make you give the best of yourself, and a great place to find friends and plans about our future.

Anyway, I so excited about the show, hopefully I'm going to have all seven garments finished by the end of this week, which will give me time to concentrate in the other aspects of the show, such a finding more models, having a preview fitting, production, music, and all those little details that will show up at last minute.
